Jane Eyre
When and Where
Starring Marla Schaffel and James Barbour, Jane Eyre began previews at Broadway's Brooks Atkinson Theatre (256 West 47th Street) on November 9 (postponed from Nov 7 and Nov 8) with an official opening on December 10 (postponed from Dec 3). The show closed on Sunday June 10, 2001 after playing 210 performances (including the special Actor's Fund performance) and 36 previews.

Stephen R. Buntrock recently appeared in the original Broadway cast of the musical Jane Eyre! Buntrock played the featured role of St. John Rivers, who was featured in the latter part of act 2, as well as covering the lead role of Rochester, which he performed 3 times in early 2001: March 11, May 1 and May 3. Buntrock could also be spotted in 3 other ensemble roles: a servant at Thornfield Hall, Mr Eshton- one of the society friends of Rochester, and one of the ensemble who tell Jane's story.

Jane Eyre premiered in Wichita, Kansas in 1995. A high-profile production starring Marla Schaffel and Anthony Crivello played Toronto in 1997. This production was recorded onto a CD which is now out of print. Most recently, the show played a well received production in La Jolla, CA in 1999. Many of the cast members from La Jolla, including stars Marla Schaffel and James Barbour, joined the Broadway production.
